It’s been really very exciting working with Reko Rennie in the studio this week for his new show at MOP Gallery, Sydney, opening on the 18th of August.
Reko’s been building up a massive reputation around Melbourne for his full colour street work, perhaps most recognised by his huge handsome fluoro kangaroos, and referencing his spectacular indiginouse pattens. Reko is now getting some worthy recognition as an interesting emerging Australian artist.
An ambitious production plan was conceived for the studio, Marina managed to create some glam samples from Reko’s concepts which encouraged us to give the project a go.
The production turned into a celebration of one of our favourite materials - metallic foils, taking them to place they had never been.

I think for the studio the other technical highlights are the use of stencils to mask the spray can and the shield. A nice continuity with Reko’s stencil work.
Marina played the lead role in the production of the work. Her patience testing squeegee profiles to apply the precise layers of glue and her skills applying the foils to the tricky centre was rewarded.
It’s significant work and I expect this just the start of something.
